You can feel the swanky nostalgia at Dominick’s as soon as you catch a glimpse of their glowing pink neon, namesake sign. It’s old school—Sinatra, Hepburn, Bogey, and Bacall old school. After all, Dominick’s was the favored watering hole of the beloved Rat Pack and has been servin’ up Italian food and cocktails for ordinary Angelinos and celebrities alike since 1948. Although it has new owners and has undergone a face-lift in recent years, it’s still a Los Angeles institution virtually unaffected by the hands of time.
If you haven’t tried it before, the Negroni (one of the MCM’s favorite drinks) is perfectly bitter and sweet. The hand-cut ice in the cocktails makes them extra special. Favorite classics like spaghetti and meatballs and an over-sized meatball sandwich with a pile of browned, sea-salty potatoes are sure to please the babes. You won’t find a typical Ceasar or Italian dressing salad here–instead try the grilled frisée with soft egg and crispy mushrooms or the black kale accompanied by fresh carrots, beets, and cumin. The rigatoni covered in a perfect red sauce and crispy eggplant is truly delectable. All pastas are handmade and children are always welcome. Details: www.dominicksrestaurant.com
