The weekend we arrived in San Francisco, the San Francisco Chronicle published their list of the 100 top Bay-area restaurants, a few of which we had the opportunity to try. However, one that was surprisingly missing from that list was Sausalito’s Fish. (and, yes, that’s Fish. with a period). Housed right on the water with beautiful bay views, patrons can experience casual dining at its absolute best.Fish. prides itself on an ever-changing menu that highlights the best and freshest seafood and newly-picked produce—all local, all sustainable, and all organic. Whether you order the fish and chips battered with Anchor Steam beer, a seafood special grilled on a wood fire, or the homemade pasta crowned with the catch of the day, make sure to squeeze in a side of herb-kissed bombaloni beans, BBQ oysters, or hand-cut potato chips with tuna poke.
As your kids watch the boats while drinking a frothy-topped draught root beer, you can relax and enjoy a glass of organic wine or a pitcher of Franziskaner or Butte Creek Organic IPA. Fish. may not have made the top 100 this year, but it’s hard to pass up this truly great catch. Details: 350 Harbor Dr., Sausalito, CA, 415.331.fish, www.331fish.com
